Zoo Med's new ReptiSun Terrarium Hood can hold one ReptiSun Linear Fluorescent lamp. A built in reflector allows for deeper penetration on visible light and UVB into your terrarium. UVB is needed by reptiles for the proper growth and maintenance of strong bones. Without UVB (and the appropriate temperatures), your reptile can develop metabolic bone disease which results in soft, rubbery bones within 6 months. Reptiles and amphibians can see things illuminated by UVA lighting that people can't. UVA is important for the psychological well being of reptiles and amphibians.

Zoo Med Reptisun T8 Terrarium Hood 48" Fixture without Bulb (48" Bulb Required)

Zoo Med Reptisun T8 Terrarium Hoods provide crisp, bright light, with low profile shapes and built-in reflectors for deeper light penetration. Each hood holds one T8 fluorescent lamp to provide essential UVB and visible light for your reptiles.

UVB is needed for growth and strong bones, and helps to prevent or reverse Metabolic Bone Disease. Use this hood with a Reptisun 5.0 UVB linear fluorescent lamp for tropical species, or a 10.0 UVB linear fluorescent lamp for desert species. Use a Naturesun linear fluorescent lamp for most species of amphibians or snakes. The 30" and 36" hoods feature an energy-efficient, flicker-free electronic ballast.
